Chiefs rumors: Orlando Brown could be replaced in NFL Draft
There’s no guarantee the Chiefs bring back Orlando Brown Jr. While Brett Veach would prefer to sign him to a contract extension, the franchise tag is not happening again. Brown Jr. is expected to demand a hefty multiyear deal in free agency, and KC only has so much money to play with.
So, rather than deal with allll that, could the Chiefs simply draft his replacement? Is it really that easy for this organization? Nate Taylor of The Athletic thinks trading up for a left tackle is a possibility.
Taylor has the Chiefs trading up with the Minnesota Vikings, which own the No. 23 overall pick, to select Anton Harrison out of Oklahoma. Here’s how Taylor describes Harrison’s strengths:
"“Listed at 6-foot-4 and 315 pounds, Harrison appears to be one of the best tackle prospects in this year’s draft class, perhaps one of the few who could be an effective starter right away. Harrison started all 12 regular-season games at Oklahoma and played the final 11 at left tackle, earning All-Big 12 first-team honors. On film, Harrison has excellent footwork, and his second effort in pass protection is also impressive.”"
It’s also important to note that Kansas City would jump in front of the Bengals in this trade, which are also a possible landing spot for Harrison.
