5 players Packers should pick in the first round of the NFL Draft

4. Will Levis

If Rodgers does head to New York this offseason, the Packers could easily be interested in adding a new prospect to their quarterback room. After all, Jordan Love is relatively untested and closer to his second contract than most fans realize.

Levis is the top-tier quarterback in this year’s draft class whose stock seems to be slipping at the moment. He struggled with injuries at Kentucky last season and his tape showed a lot of inconsistencies. He’ll need significant refinement at the next level if he’s going to fulfill his potential as a passer.

The good news on Levis is that he has a very strong arm that allows him to make all the throws in an NFL playbook. He also displayed real toughness last season playing hurt even when his team wasn’t really in the mix for an SEC title. That grit should make him an appealing prospect for head coach Matt LaFleur and his staff.

The Packers used to be a franchise that believed in taking a quarterback in nearly every NFL Draft. They could reinstitute that policy if Levis falls all the way to No. 15 in this year’s event. He could develop into the team’s actual successor to Rodgers if things break right for him in Green Bay.
