March Madness 2023 rankings: Ranking every team 1-68
By Drew Koch
March Madness rankings: No. 30-21
30. Northwestern (21-11): This is just the second time in school history that the Wildcats have made the NCAA Tournament. Their only other appearance saw Northwestern advance to the Round of 32. They are good enough to go deeper than that in 2023.
29. TCU (21-12): The Horned Frogs went just .500 in the Big 12 Conference this year. Inconsistent play has been their Achilles heel throughout the season, and TCU will go as far as Mike Miles takes them.
28. Creighton (21-12): Don’t try to put the Cinderella label on Creighton. That glass slipper no longer fits. Every college basketball fan knows who Creighton is and that the Blue Jays are definitely capable of making some noise in the tournament despite receiving a 6-seed.
27. Saint Mary’s (26-7): The Gaels have one of the best defenders in the game in Logan Johnson. Saint Mary’s took down Gonzaga earlier this year, but lost to the Bulldogs in the West Coast Conference Tournament. VCU presents a difficult matchup in Round 1.
26. Arkansas (20-13): Arkansas is a better team than their record indicates, and Eric Musselman will have the Hogs ready when the ball is tipped on Thursday in Iowa. The Razorbacks are a hard-nosed defensive team and will be a tough out in the tourney.
25. Florida Atlantic (31-3): The Owls have just three losses on the season. Size will certainly bother FAU, but the Owls were dominant in the Conference USA Tournament after going 18-2 during the regular season.
24. Missouri (24-9): The Tigers went 11-7 in the SEC and surprised a ton of people. So much so that head coach Dennis Gates was signed to a contract extension just last week. Mizzouy beat Tennessee twice, but was dismantled by Kansas earlier in the year.
23. Iowa State (19-13): The Cyclones placed sixth in the Big 12 this season, but defeated Baylor in back-to-back games before falling to Kansas in the conference tournament. Senior guard Gabe Kalscheur is a player to watch in the tournament.
22. Kentucky (21-11): Oscar Tshiebwe’s return did not yield the same results Big Blue Nation was hoping for, but the Wildcats still have a chance to go deep into the NCAA Tournament provided point guard Cason Wallace is healthy.
21. Michigan State (19-12): Don’t bet against Tom Izzo in March. Just don’t do it. His Spartans could have No. 16 next to their name and I’d still pick them. Michigan State is not having their typical type of season, but Sparty is also a tough out in March.
