March Madness 2023 rankings: Ranking every team 1-68
By Drew Koch
March Madness rankings: No. 10-1
10. UConn (25-8): The Huskies had a great run through the Big East Tournament, but bowed out to Marquette in a thrilling semi-final game at Madison Square Garden. UConn started the season unranked, but ran off 14 straight and have the feel of a team that could certainly shake things up.
9. Arizona (28-6): The Wildcats won the Pac-12 Conference Championship, and Tommy Lloyd’s bunch has the horses to get it done in March. Arizona has a difficult path to the Final Four, as No. 1 overall seed Alabama sits atop the South Region.
8. Gonzaga (28-5): The Zags are always a trendy pick in March, and why shouldn’t they be. Drew Timme will look to lead the Bulldogs to the promised land this year and get that elusive National Championship for head coach Mark Few.
7. UCLA (29-5): Mick Cronin has the Bruins playing very well. UCLA fell just short of the Pac-12 Tournament title, but the Bruins had two separate double-digit winning streaks this season. However, being without Jaylen Clark will definitely impact their chances.
6. Marquette (28-6): Shaka Smart has the Golden Eagles flying high. No, Marquette doesn’t get the headlines of playing in a marquee conference like the SEC or the Big Ten, but this team is incredibly talented. Tyler Kolek will become a household name by the time March Madness is over.
5. Texas (26-8): Texas has been one of the best teams all season. The Longhorns defeated the Kansas Jayhawks twice and knocked off Gonzaga by 19. Marcus Carr leads the way for Texas, and he could help take them right down the road to Houston for the Final Four.
4. Purdue (29-5): The Boilermakers earned their No. 1 seed in the East Region. Matt Painter guided his team all season and Purdue won both the regular season and Big Ten Tournament. Zach Edey will try to take Painter somewhere he’s never been – the Final Four.
3. Houston (31-3): The Cougars would love to return to Houston for the Final Four. After losing just three games all season, Houston snagged the No. 1 seed in the Midwest and are looking to get back to the Final Four after falling to Baylor in 2021.
2. Kansas (27-7): The Jayhawks were upended by Texas in the Big 12 Title Game. But everyone knows how much a head coach means in college athletics. The Jayhawks were without Bill Self for the Big 12 tourney, but Kansas’ head coach is expected to return for March Madness.
1. Alabama (29-5): Alabama’s season has been filled with turmoil, but it hasn’t stopped the Crimson Tide from grabbing the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. Nate Oats and Brandon Miller are looking to take a National Title back to Tuscaloosa.
