The Memphis Grizzlies did it again. They went on the road and laid an absolute egg against an inferior opponent. This time it was down in Miami and they lost to the Heat, 138-119 to fall to 41-37 which is still good enough for third place in the Western Conference. Now, their struggles on the road will really be put to the test against the 18-51 Spurs in San Antonio, not exactly a party town.

It feels like they need to get a win and they’ll have to do without Ja Morant who is still suspended by the league. Let’s get into the odds for the Grizzlies and Spurs in San Antonio.

Grizzlies vs. Spurs odds, spread and total

Grizzlies vs. Spurs prediction and pick

This is the penultimate game of a six-game homestand for the Spurs and so far they’re 2-2 with an overtime loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday. It’s been a pretty successful stay in San Antonio and during this stretch they have a win over Denver, the first place team in the West. The Spurs are 17-17 against the spread at home and a -6.2 net rating, which doesn’t sound good, but is way better than their -13.0 net rating on the road.

The Grizzlies on the other hand are 12-22-1 against the spread on the road and have a -2.7 net rating which is disastrous for a team with 41 wins that I’m sure fancies itself as a title contender. You would think without Morant for this stretch, they would struggle on offense, but against Miami, they scored 119, but they gave up 138. Jaren Jackson Jr. had to carry the load on offense with 25 points, but they couldn’t stop Miami, who is one of the worst offensive teams in the league.

In terms of points per game and field goal percentage, the Spurs are actually better on the offensive end than Miami this season. Fading Memphis on the road has been profitable, and I’ll stick to it on Friday night.
