This year, March Madness has seen its fair share of injuries. You can now add Alabama Crimson Tide forward Brandon Miller to that list.

Winning the NCAA Tournament involves many things breaking your way. A team must be disciplined on defense, have timely shooting, and of course, stay healthy.

For Nate Oats’ Alabama Crimson Tide, at least two of those three things are going well. The other, however, may be cause for concern over the long haul.

Brandon Miller has been Alabama’s best player all season and is a lock to go in the Top 5 of the upcoming NBA Draft. But the Crimson Tide’s star player put up a goose egg during Thursday’s Opening Round March Madness matchup against Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

Miller went 0-for-5 from the field, including 0-for-3 from downtown. Miller played just 18 minutes and logged five rebounds and one blocked shot. But was there more going on with the SEC Player of the Year?

Alabama March Madness injury update: Is Brandon Miller playing vs. Maryland?

According to college basketball insider Jeff Goodman, Miller is dealing with a groin injury that he sustained during last week’s Southeastern Conference Tournament. Miller averaged over 20 points per game during the conference tourney, so it obviously didn’t slow him down too much.

The injury, however, will not keep Brandon Miller out of action in the Alabama Crimson Tide’s second-round matchup against the Maryland Terrapins. Goodman is reporting that Miller is about 80 percent, but will have no minutes restrictions.

Though there may be other reasons why Miller should not be on the floor tonight — we won’t get into those here — it won’t be due to his injured groin. Expect the Alabama star on the court tonight when the Tide take on the Terps in their quest for a spot in the Sweet 16.
