NFL Draft: 5 players Eagles should consider in first round
3. Bryan Bresee, IDL, Clemson
Bresee is another player on this list whose draft stock is not headed in a positive direction. He wasn’t overly productive during his final season at Clemson and his testing at Indianapolis failed to ease the concerns scout had with his 2022 film.
Even so, teams that view Bresee as a defensive tackle should be comfortable with his 4.86 second 40-yard dash time. The former Tigers standout plays quicker than his foot speed with his exceptional hand placement. He already understands how to keep opposing blockers away from him and create space with above-average hand power and technique.
Bresee isn’t going to make Eagles fans forget about the departure of Javon Hargrave, but he can play meaningful snaps as a rookie. The further he gets away from the kidney infection that bothered him last year should improve his performance at the point of attack.
Bresee would represent a modest gamble at No. 30 for a front office that isn’t afraid to roll the dice. At worst, he’s a guy who can occupy blocks as a rookie to free up room for Philadelphia’s linebacking corps to make plays. At best, he can become a high-level pass-rushing reserve for a team that needs to maintain its advantage at the line of scrimmage.
