MLB news: World Baseball Classic setting records ahead of finale

Looking for a ticket for any of the remaining games of the World Baseball Classic? Good luck, because every game between now and the championship on March 21 in Miami is sold out.

While so much attention has been placed on the season-ending injury suffered by New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz, there is no question that the amount of attention around the WBC has never been higher, and neither has the attendance.

Saturday night’s matchup between the United States and Venezuela comes on the heels of a thriller between Mexico and Puerto Rico on Friday night, with Mexico escaping with a 5-4 victory, a win that is being called the biggest in Mexican baseball history. That win sets up a semifinal matchup against Japan on March 20, with the winner moving on to the title game the next night.

Saturday’s USA-Venezuela winner will meet Cuba in the other semifinal on Sunday night.
