Kentucky basketball star Cason Wallace won’t be back next season

Oscar Tshiebwe has a monster performance on Sunday against Kansas State, but the Kentucky Wildcats wouldn’t have even been in position to win had it not been for point guard Cason Wallace. Look for the UK star to enter his name into the NBA Draft.

Wallace does it on both ends of the floor and is arguably the best defender available in the upcoming draft. Wallace will not only hear his name called in Round 1, but could be a lottery pick.

As mentioned earlier, the Kentucky Wildcats have a stacked recruiting class coming in. With top guards like Robert Dillingham and DJ Wagner coming to Lexington in the fall, Wallace’s playing time would take a hit if he decided to stay.

Like so many who came before him, Cason Wallace will be one-and-done at the University of Kentucky. But like he always does, John Calipari will reload with some of the best talent in the country heading into next.

Kentucky Wildcats fans are hoping that the players Coach Cal brings in will actually advance in the NCAA Tournament next season. The Kentucky basketball program has not been to the Final Four since 2015. While some schools are happy just to make the tournament, that type of attitude doesn’t fly with Big Blue Nation.
