First pitch: The 3 best cities for MLB Opening Day 2023
By Kevin Henry
MLB Opening Day must-see: Toronto Blue Jays at St. Louis Cardinals
There’s no question that St. Louis has one of the best Opening Day traditions among all MLB teams. From the Budweiser Clydesdales taking a trip around the warning track to the numerous Cardinals Hall of Famers who are brought into the stadium in a parade of cars, the buildup to the game and reminder of the incredible baseball history in the Gateway City is always on display on Opening Day.
Add to all of the pomp and circumstance what is one of the best 2023 Opening Day matchups of all featuring two teams that have World Series aspirations, and you have the ingredients for what should be a fantastic environment for a baseball game.
It’s expected that Adam Wainwright will once again take the mound on Opening Day. In his final season, if he is indeed tabbed for the honor by manager Oli Marmol, it will be his seventh Opening Day start and give fans a chance to show their appreciation for one of the faces of the franchise in recent seasons. He will take the mound against one of the strongest lineups in the American League as Toronto retooled in the offseason, adding Brandon Belt, Daulton Varsho, and Kevin Kiermaier to an already deep batting order.
First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. (Eastern)
