NFL Rumors: Lamar Jackson’s market remains barren

In the past week, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has been linked to the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and Indianapolis Colts.

That’s a good chunk of the league, but teams’ interest in him has been lukewarm at best with no serious suitor willing to pay Jackson his desired contract and cough up two first-rounders.

Jackson was allowed to negotiate with other teams five days ago. Five days later, he has yet to receive an offer sheet and may not get his contract situation resolved until the start of next season.

The 2019 MVP received a $32.4 million non-exclusive franchise tag earlier this offseason in what could be considered the biggest checkpoint of his ongoing deadlock with the Ravens.

Jackson clearly values himself more than the Ravens do and wants Deshaun Watson money. The Ravens don’t want to go that high.

Jackson hasn’t spoken to reporters in the last three months, and very few updates are coming out of Ravens camp. Over the weekend, Jackson teased an exclusive interview on his YouTube channel, yet it’s unclear whether he’ll address his contract demands or the situation at all. He technically has until July 17 to field contract offers and has shown no rush or concern toward getting a deal done.

What can we expect for next four months? Rumors will continue to swirl around the star quarterback’s future, especially as Baltimore’s AFC rivals make money moves this offseason. The Bengals just went and got their left tackle of the future. The Browns got Jessie Bates and added other premium reinforcements to their defense.

What big signing do the Ravens have to show for? Hopefully, by the end of the offseason, it will be No. 8.
