MLB Power Rankings: The best trade asset for every team
By Tim Boyle
10) MLB Power Rankings: Miami Marlins, Jazz Chisholm
A position change for Jazz Chisholm could be signaling a change for the young Miami Marlins star. He’ll play center field for them this year. How that goes could determine whether or not the Marlins end up shopping him. It’s doubtful but this is a team that never ceases to amaze MLB fans. Who else has dismantled two World Series clubs with no regard?
9) MLB Power Rankings: Chicago Cubs, Cody Bellinger
If things go really well with Cody Bellinger this year, the Chicago Cubs may have themselves a big trade in the works. Even if they aren’t so wonderful, the Cubs may have themselves a medium trade in the works. He’s in Chicago this year to rebuild his stock. Where he ends up will depend on how much he can pump it up.
8) MLB Power Rankings: Chicago White Sox, Lucas Giolito
Good starting pitching is hard to find. Soon-to-be free agent Lucas Giolito struggled to find it last year within himself. Teams saw enough from him during the previous three years to make him a strong trade candidate regardless. Exactly what the Chicago White Sox could get back for him will be based on performance. Of course, if the White Sox don’t bow out too early like they did in 2022, their best trade piece would be a prospect.
7) MLB Power Rankings: Minnesota Twins, Brooks Lee
The return of Carlos Correa to the Minnesota Twins makes Brooks Lee a little more expendable. There are definitely other paths for him to get to the major leagues. But if we’re looking at the Twins making a big push in a trade, Lee is the guy to deal. Obviously, if things don’t go the way they hope it does, a whole bunch of other players become fabulous trade pieces.
6) MLB Power Rankings: Seattle Mariners, Harry Ford
Harry Ford is one of the best prospects in baseball. The team also already has Cal Raleigh. The Seattle Mariners could definitely choose the youngster over Raleigh at some point. Or, if they see an opening this year to flip their top prospect for help somewhere else, the Mariners can take advantage of their surplus at a position that isn’t always the easiest to get production from.
