Players the Steelers take in the first round of the NFL Draft

2. OT Paris Johnson

Johnson only played one season at left tackle for Ohio State, but he showed more than enough ability to cause scouts to believe he can handle the position full-time at the NFL level. He is just the sort of player who could become an immediate starter at the premium spot for Pittsburgh.

The only reason Johnson doesn’t occupy the No. 1 spot on this list is that the chances of him still being on the board at No. 17 are relatively slim. If Pittsburgh wants to secure the former Ohio State star they will likely need to move up a handful of spots to make sure he doesn’t escape their clutches.

Johnson isn’t the most refined left tackle prospect in NFL history, but he’s got the ceiling of a potential All-Pro. He possesses excellent size and speed for a professional tackle. Once he figures out how to turn all that natural talent into production he’ll be a nightmare for high-level pass rushers.

It might take Johnson a little time to adjust to the rigors of being an NFL starter, but he’s got superstar potential at one of the most important positions in the modern game. That makes him a potential steal for Pittsburgh in Round 1.
