Trade proposal: Bryan Reynolds to the Yankees

H/T Yanks Go Yard

Analysis: The Pittsburgh Pirates are reportedly seeking a Juan Soto-like package for Bryan Reynolds. While I cannot independently confirm that, what I do know is that the Pirates are asking for a lot for their All-Star outfielder.

And this is not enough to get Reynolds to the Bronx.

While it does feature Jasson Dominguez, one of baseball’s most tantalizing prospects, and two other top-10 prospects in the Yankees’ system, it does not include enough frontline talent to get a deal done.

Any deal that would get Reynolds to the Yankees would likely have to feature Anthony Volpe, and there are zero indications that New York would consider such a scenario. The Yankees have been asked about Volpe in trade talks for years and have turned down every inquiry, believing he will be the organization’s shortstop for the next decade.

Perhaps they could get creative in putting together a package strong enough to entice the Pirates to part with Reynolds without including Volpe, but such a scenario feels unlikely.

Verdict: Decline.
