NFL rumors: The Green Bay Packers are definitely Rich Bisaccia’s team now

After hiring Rich Bisaccia after the Las Vegas Raiders completely blew it with their beloved former interim head coach, the Green Bay Packers have never cared more about special teams than they do now. They got humiliated in their most recent playoff loss two years in this crucial third phase of the game. With Green Bay re-signing Eric Wilson, it is established that this is Bisaccia’s team.

For those not in the know, Wilson was signed off the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad in very early October. He blocked a punt vs. the New York Jets two weeks later and then went on to lead the Packers in special teams tackles. For a guy to have been straight chilling on the Saints’ practice squad to become a crucial player for the Packers on special teams illustrates Bisaccia’s greatness.

It has been a minute since a special teams coach has gotten an opportunity to lead an NFL franchise on more than an interim basis. Given that the Packers have a myriad of other issues at hand last year, Bisaccia’s coaching stock did take a hit. However, he has long been elite in his role. Should the Packers make the playoffs with Jordan Love under center, maybe Bisaccia will get his?

With Aaron Rodgers out of the equation, there will be even more of an emphasis on special teams.
