NFL rumors: Colts lay more Lamar Jackson breadcrumbs

A lot of teams have tried to distance themselves from the pursuit of Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, who says he has requested a trade out of Baltimore. The Colts don’t seem to be one of them.

In fact, GM Chris Ballard made it pretty clear that Indianapolis has interest in bringing in the former MVP.

“Anytime a special player is available – which he is — you gotta do the work,” Ballard said, via Zak Keefer of The Athletic. “I’m not gonna get into deep discussions on where it’s at, what we’re doing or what we might do, but he’s a really special player. You never know how any of this will work out.”

Landing Jackson would be the biggest Colts trade since they got Eric Dickerson from the Rams. It would transform the franchise in an instant. And Ballard isn’t throwing cold water on the idea of getting it done.

There’s obviously a lot that needs to happen for Indianapolis to get the deal done, but we can see which way they want this to go.
