Tiger Woods made his triumphant return to golf at The Masters in 2022. But will golf’s GOAT be playing at Augusta for the 2023 tournament?

Excitement has already built up high for The Masters, which tees off on April 6 in 2023 and lasts through Easter Sunday on April 9. But as special as the trip to Augusta National Golf Club always is, it’ll be hard for the 2023 Masters Tournament to top last year’s with the moments that Tiger Woods gave us.

After his horrific car crash in February 2021, there were questions if Tiger would ever walk again, much less play golf against the best in the world. Woods not only defied those odds by teeing it up at The Masters in 2022, just over a year after his accident, but he did so doubly by making the cut and playing the weekend.

He went on to play in three of the four major championships on the year and teed it up most recently at the 2023 Genesis Invitational. However, the question that everyone wants to know is if Tiger is playing The Masters in 2023.

Is Tiger Woods playing The Masters 2023?

While we don’t have official confirmation yet, all signs point to Tiger Woods playing at Augusta this year.

After the Genesis (where he also made the cut), Woods stated that his goal for 2023 was to play in all four major championships and perhaps another tournament or two, as much as his body — he’s dealt with soreness from his injuries and recovery from the car crash in addition to plantar fasciitis — will allow. However, playing the majors was stated as the primary goal, which obviously means he returns to The Masters. It truly feels like a formality before we get the official word.

How many times has Tiger Woods won The Masters?

It’s no wonder that Tiger made his return at Augusta and plans to keep playing. Woods is a five-time champion at The Masters, becoming the youngest-ever winner back in 1997 and most recently winning in improbable and magical fashion back in 2019. He also notched back-to-back victories at the height of his powers in 2001 and 2002 in addition to winning in 2005 as well.

In case you were curious, he has a total of 15 major championship victories to his credit.

For those keeping track at home, after playing this tournament 24 times as an amateur and professional, he only has missed the cut once and only finished outside the Top 40 twice, once as an amateur and once in his comeback last year. In addition to his five wins, he also has an addition seven Top 5 finishes at Augusta, meaning he’s finished in the Top 5 in exactly half of his starts at The Masters.

Not too shabby, I’d say.
