3 biggest draft busts in Miami Dolphins history
1. DE Dion Jordan
The Miami Dolphins owned the 12th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft but swung a deal with the Raiders to move up to the third spot that year. They had their eyes on some pass-rushing talent in the form of Dion Jordan.
As a junior at the University of Oregon, he racked up 7.5 sacks and a forced fumble. In his senior season with the Ducks, the 6-foot-6, 284-pound specimen totaled 44 tackles, five sacks and three forced fumbles.
He played in all 16 games as a rookie, finishing with 26 tackles, a pair of sacks and two batted-down passes. However, there was trouble on the horizon in terms of issues with drugs and banned substances. He was suspended the first six games of 2014 and wound up with one quarterback sack in the team’s final 10 outings.
There was no football for Jordan in both 2015 and 2016. He wound up with the Seattle Seahawks in 2017 and in five games with Pete Carroll’s club he totaled a career-best four quarterback traps.
Jordan played one more year in Seattle and then moved on to stints with the Raiders (2019) and 49ers (2020). He played in 63 regular-season games and finished with 13.5 sacks. The bottom line is that his career with the Dolphins added up to 26 outings (1 start), three sacks and was off the field more than he was on it.
