20) MLB Power Rankings: San Francisco Giants, This lineup can be better

For those who think the San Francisco Giants had a bad weekend because they had to play the New York Yankees in the Bronx, you’re kidding yourself. The Giants do not have a very good lineup and to think anything differently is selling yourself snake oil. Michael Conforto began his time with the club going 1 for 12. Thairo Estrada is the only player hitting above .273 right now which is pretty awful after three games. This may change but the Giants are going to be a team pitchers are delighted to face.

19) MLB Power Rankings: Minnesota Twins, Playoff bound already

The Minnesota Twins swept their three-game series this weekend and fans should feel good. It’s a great start for a team that had no life at the end of last season. Unfortunately, there is some rain for this parade. The Twins beat up on the hopeless Kansas City Royals. They did what they had to do. The only bonus points they get is for doing it on the road. It’s a good start. Minnesota needs to prove they can finish.

18) MLB Power Rankings: Oakland Athletics, Shintaro Fujinami might be the worst free agent signing

Frankly, there isn’t a whole lot to watch with the Oakland Athletics this year. They did make some free agent moves. One was the signing of Shintaro Fujinami. While not as hyped as Kodai Senga, we saw why when he gave up 8 earned runs in 2.1 innings of work in his MLB debut for the Athletics. Will he end up being the worst free agent signing this offseason? Something says there will be a far greater bust out there.

17) MLB Power Rankings: Philadelphia Phillies, Aaron Nola and Zack Wheeler are cooked

That’s not how you defend a pennant. Philadelphia Phillies pitchers Aaron Nola and Zack Wheeler each got pummeled by the Texas Rangers this weekend. The Nola start was may be worse because the Phillies had such a stranglehold on Jacob deGrom early. They were hardly the only two pitchers on the staff to get beaten up. Plenty of Phillies relievers joined in on throwing batting practice. The horrendous season debuts for these arms shouldn’t have fans giving him quite yet. Even greater pitchers have slumped early on. Don’t freak out until it happens the next time around.

16) MLB Power Rankings: Cleveland Guardians, It’s possible to win all year without offense

The Cleveland Guardians managed to go 3-1 this weekend which is amazing considering nobody on the team has more than four hits. As per usual, the Guardians are winning with timely hits, not excessive ones. Steven Kwan leads the team with 6 RBI and is one of those players who has 4 hits this year. The Guardians fans may have some weird feelings in regards to Josh Bell. He has gone 1 for 12 but already has 6 walks. This team can grind. The bats will need to liven up a little bit more if they’re going to do any serious damage.
