Following last year’s surprising run, it sure feels as though the Jaguars have put the rest of the league on notice, including the Chiefs.
The Jags put up a fight and gave the Chiefs everything they could handle in their AFC divisional meeting. They were very much in this game and weren’t phased even after the Chiefs took a 20-10 lead.
In the final six minutes of the game, the Jaguars had not one, but two crucial turnovers when their offense was moving down the field on the cusp of scoring.
We cannot discuss this game without mentioning that Patrick Mahomes was bothered by an ankle injury he sustained during the match.
Although, backup quarterback Chad Henne came in and did as well as anyone can do in a scenario of that magnitude.
Yes, it is fair to question how close this game may have been if Patrick Mahomes avoided injury. But, there is no denying that the Jaguars have a bright future ahead of them with the emergence of Trevor Lawrence.
Now welcoming former All-Pro Calvin Ridley into the mix, Lawrence and the Jaguars should only improve and pose a bigger threat to the Chiefs.
The Chiefs have a bigger target than ever on their backs and teams like the Jags are chomping at the bit to get their chance at redemption.
