MLB Rumors – Trade proposal: CJ Cron to the Phillies

H/T FanSided.com’s Kevin Henry

Robert Murray’s analysis: This trade feels more feasible. Cron would be a perfect fit for the Phillies at first base, considering that Rhys Hoskins is out for the season after tearing his left ACL.

Cron, 33, is signed to an affordable two-year. $14.5 million contract. He’s hit .269/.343/.502 with 57 home runs and 194 RBI in the last two seasons in Colorado and is once again off to a scorching start.

Which could make any potential trade price steep — and even then, the Rockies are known for having steep demands in trade talks. And the Rockies have also been less inclined to trade their premium major-league players in recent years, except for Nolan Arenado, and could once again elect to hold onto Cron this season.

The Phillies should still check in on Cron, however. He makes sense in every way as their first baseman in 2023 and beyond. But it will all come down to the Rockies’ willingness to move him, and the best guess here is they’ll try to hold onto him unless the offer is too good to pass up.

Odds: 5/10
