3. Minnesota Timberwolves

It’s pretty demoralizing time for Minnesota, currently sitting in the No. 8 seed and set to play the scorching-hot Lakers on the road in the first round of the play-in tournament.

Though it was a heavily controversial move, Minnesota declared themselves as contenders for the long run after trading multiple first round picks for Rudy Gobert. The team has done anything but contend, set for another first round exit even after acquiring Gobert. While it’s disappointing Karl-Anthony Towns missed more than 60 percent of their games this year, watching him alongside Rudy Gobert clearly wasn’t the smoothest pairing. The lack of speed, along with the miserable perimeter defense the Wolves suffered deeply hurt Minnesota while the two shared the court.

With Towns playing just 29 games this season, Minnesota found themselves with a 42-40 regular season record at the conclusion of the season. But let’s make it clear the ending to regular season wasn’t so harmonious.

The regular season finale was nothing short of a catastrophe for Minnesota. After getting into an argument with teammate Kyle Anderson on the bench, Rudy Gobert punched Anderson and was sent home by the team for his despicable actions.

In addition, young defensive star Jaden McDaniels reportedly punched a wall after the game and broke his hand. Gobert will not play versus Los Angeles, serving a one-game suspension enforced by the team. It’s truly icing on the cake that the player Minnesota traded four first-round picks for (plus Walker Kessler) isn’t playing in a crucial game because he punched another teammate.
