1. Adrian Peterson

This was another bizarre running back situation in New Orleans. Adrian Peterson saw his legendary career end with a bevy of teams. In fact, he might end up on lists for the Cardinals, Lions, and Titans, and he just missed the Seattle Seahawks list. However, there was nothing as strange as Peterson’s time with the Saints.

This was Peterson’s first stop after he left the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings denied an $18 million option in Peterson’s contract, and the Saints swooped in and signed him for two years, $7 million.

Things started as terribly as possible. Peterson played his former team in his first game with the Saints. He was held to just 18 yards in the performance. Meanwhile, he had to watch as Dalvin Cook broke the rookie rushing record, a record Peterson was holding at the time. Peterson was watching his career go up in smoke while his replacement showed that the Vikings would not miss him at all.

The Saints saga didn’t even last a full season. He was traded to the Arizona Cardinals for a sixth-round pick before the 2017 NFL Trade Deadline. It was the right move, as Peterson clearly didn’t fit in New Orleans. Despite the issues, Peterson’s career would last for four more seasons. He’s apparently not retired yet, but we should hear about that soon.
