Chiefs free agents who could be replaced in the 2023 NFL Draft: Mecole Hardman, WR

The second notable Chiefs wide receiver to leave via free agency, Mecole Hardman, signed with the New York Jets. Hardman brought speed and versatility to the position, and every once in a while, was good for a big play. Although he will be missed, Hardman is replaceable.

If KC wanted to go after a replacement in the first round, one excellent option would be Zay Flowers out of Boston College. He has a similar build to that of Hardman, standing 5-foot-9 and weighing 182 pounds (Hardman is 5-foot-10, 187 pounds).

Flowers is a quick-footed receiver that can operate at any level of the field, and when he gets the ball in his hands, look out. He’s also very good at tracking the deep ball.

Should Kansas City look at some options later on in the draft, Oklahoma’s Marvin Mims is a great starting point. He is a bit taller than Hardman at 5-foot-11, but an absolute burner. Mims ran a 4.38 at the Combine and is another guy who’s a big play waiting to happen.

A little later, the Chiefs could find Cincinnati wideout Tyler Scott, a former running back with electric speed. 10 of his 14 career touchdowns went for 30-plus yards. How’s that for a potential Mahomes weapon?
