Teams that should attempt to trade for Saquon Barkley: Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos could look to Barkley to shore up their backfield. Right now they roster Javonte Williams, Samaje Perine, Tony Jones Jr., and Damarea Crockett. All of those came in with worse Pro Football Focus scores than Barkley’s 77.2 in New York last season and had fewer than 100 carries.

There is immense pressure on Denver to get this season right. With a fresh head coach in Sean Payton leading Russell Wilson’s second year in orange and blue, there are expectations that the team will get back on course with expectations, and fast.

A notable struggle for Denver last season was the run game. No one rusher got about 1,000 yards, with Latavius Murray who joined midway through the season coming the closest. Melvin Gordon was curiously underutilized.

In many of Russell Wilson’s most successful seasons with the Seahawks, whether it was Chris Carson or Marshawn Lynch, there was a solid, 1,000-plus yard running back right there with him. Getting a strong rushing threat to add to the backfield should be a top priority in free agency, the trade market, or the draft.
