Eagles rumors: Draft Jalen Carter

Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network appeared on The Pat McAfee several weeks ago and suggested that the Philadelphia Eagles had given Jalen Carter a top-10 guarantee. That is why Carter isn’t visiting teams outside of the top-10 for now.

Carter has a ton of talent, and also an unfortunate off-the-field situation involving a car accident which tragically killed a former teammate and staffer at Georgia. Carter was charged for his role in the incident.

The Georgia product had been in the conversation for first defensive player taken along with Alabama’s Will Anderson, but now appears more likely to be selected later in the top-10. Philadelphia may have to trade up to take Carter unless he falls further than expected. The Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears and more appear interested.

Carter would be an incredible fit on Philly’s defensive line alongside players like Brandon Graham and Fletcher Cox. As FanSided’s John Buhler pointed out, Carter to Philly makes a lot of sense, especially if the Eagles are willing to acquire him at all cost:

"“This is not just intel in the building, but rather two of Carter’s former college teammates are second-year pros on the Eagles defense in defensive tackle Jordan Davis and linebacker Jordan Davis. I want to gouge my eyes out with a rusty spoon rather than dealing with the morons who cannot comprehend this. Davis and Dean will vouch for him and Carter will go No. 10 to the Eagles.”"

If he’s readily available, Carter is just the kind of player Philly needs to put them over the top.
