Josh Hader traded to the San Diego Padres

The Josh Hader trade sent shockwaves throughout the Milwaukee Brewers organization and sent the team from in the thick of the postseason race to missing the playoffs altogether.

Hader, however, struggled getting acclimated in San Diego. He posted a 7.31 ERA in 19 regular season appearances, but thrived in the postseason, throwing 5.1 scoreless innings while recording 10 strikeouts and routinely hitting 100 mph. He has continued that this season, posting a 1.29 ERA in seven appearances, while recording 13 strikeouts.

Hader is scheduled to become a free agent at the end of the 2023 season. Hader and the Padres are not currently in contract extension talks, so it appears that the star left-hander is set to hit free agency at the end of the season. But despite a slow start in San Diego, the trade has been a success for the Padres, who did not part with any of their top-5 prospects to acquire Hader.
