First round mistakes the Minnesota Vikings cannot make in the 2023 NFL Draft: Passing on Bijan Robinson

While we mention reaching on a wide receiver or quarterback, one player that wouldn’t be a reach at no. 23 is Texas running back Bijan Robinson, who comes in as unquestionably a top-10 talent in this class. The problem for him, though, is the fact that running backs aren’t heavily invested in anymore.

But, with rumors swirling that the Vikings might end up cutting Dalvin Cook if they cannot find a trade partner, Mattison alone isn’t going to cut it. He’s a talented back, and could handle a decent load, but he’s not a game-changing talent.

Robinson is a game-changing talent, and that’s a fact.

The Vikings wouldn’t have seen a prospect like Robinson fall into their lap since Adrian Peterson back in 2007. If he’s there, he has to be the pick. Of course, speaking on behalf of the entire fan base would be foolish, but there are a lot of Minnesota fans that couldn’t forgive a decision like passing on Robinson.

If you have the opportunity to add a guy who can break a game open, does everything well at the position and is one of the best prospects of his position over the last decade, it’s an easy call.
