2. Washington Spirit

Strength: Attacking power

Trinity Rodman and Ashley Hatch are truly undeniable, finding points for their side every week. Combined with a midfield anchored by Andi Sullivan and the creativity of Ashley Sanchez and Marissa Sheva, the Spirit have no problems pushing balls through and attacking with haste. With Ashley Hatch earning her 40th career goal this weekend, the Spirit are showing up in the points column.

Weakness: Defensive strategy

At the moment, the Spirit are looking as black and white as their jersey rebrand in terms of defense versus offense. While their attack is balling out on one half of the field, their defense appears in shambles. They appear all over the place, unsure of their positions and often leaving space for breakaways and gifting chances to the opposition. The Spirit are a young squad, and their defense can improve with time, but at the moment it’s a vulnerability that opposing sides can exploit.
