First Round mistakes the Packers can’t afford to make in 2023 NFL Draft: Missing out on Dalton Kincaid

Like the past couple of years, many Packers fans want to talk about the team drafting a wide receiver in the first round. The wide receiver room still isn’t up to par, although Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs showed some things as rookies last year. There is potential for the two of them to lead the team as its WR1 and WR2.

At pick No. 15, Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid very well might be available. If he is, Green Bay needs to make the move. To have a dynamic weapon at wide receiver like Watson, plus the potential of Doubs, and of course the two-headed monster in the back field of Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon, adding a top-tier tight end could be the missing piece.

Kincaid is the clear-cut top tight end in this draft, and obviously we want to know who will be throwing him the ball (likely Jordan Love). But, regardless of who is at quarterback, this team needs an answer at tight end, and Kincaid could be that guy.

The Packers are looking at your typical, pass-catching tight end with a lot to like. The play speed, athleticism and route-running are all there on tape. His hands are by far the best in the draft at his position. He gets open. He moves the chains. He’s a smart player that will instantly impact this offense and become a focal point even as a rookie.
