USMNT news recently has been mixed — Weston McKennie made a bad error in Leeds United’s 6-1 defeat to Liverpool, Christian Pulisic’s Chelsea is to face Real Madrid today and Brandon Vazquez has revealed he is focused on playing for the US.

USMNT news: Weston McKennie error in Leeds loss

McKennie’s time at Leeds since his arrival in January has been largely positive, despite the club’s perilous position in the Premier League table. He has started nine of the club’s last 11 games but the Yorkshire side is currently just two places and two points above the relegation zone.

The USMNT player made a bad error in their match at home to Liverpool last night, leading to Mohamed Salah scoring their second goal. Leeds went on to lose 6-1. Fellow American, Brenden Aaronson also featured in the match and came close to scoring with an effort from range. Tyler Adams is still injured and was watching on from the stands.

Leeds is in danger of going down, they have now lost four out of their last five games. McKennie is only on loan at the club from Juventus and they plan on signing him permanently if they stay in the Premier League.

Their next three games against Fulham, Leicester and Bournemouth are crucial in whether they stay up or not. Leeds must get results in these games if they are to survive in the top flight. McKennie’s future as a Premier League player could depend on it.

Leeds has a tough final four league games with fixtures against Manchester City, Newcastle United, West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur. This is why Javi Gracia’s side must start picking up points against teams in and around the division.

USMNT news: Christian Pulisic and Chelsea to face Real Madrid

Pulisic was left on the bench in the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu and Chelsea went on to lose 2-0 in the Champions League. The American did start their match against Brighton last weekend but was taken off after 56 minutes as the Blues suffered another loss. It is unclear whether he will play against Real Madrid today as Chelsea faces a massive task to get back into the game.

Chelsea is enduring a very tough season and Pulisic’s record in all competitions is 27 games played with one goal and two assists. He has spent time out through injury but it has been speculated that he will move on from Stamford Bridge at the end of the season. His time at the club has been mixed, he has won the Champions League and scored in an FA Cup final. However, with the lack of game time he has had of late, it is time to move on from the club that he joined in 2019.

USMNT news: Brandon Vazquez focused on representing the US

Vazquez who played for FC Cincinnati in MLS has two caps for the USMNT that came in friendlies. He is also eligible to represent Mexico, the county that the Stars and Stripes will play on Thursday. Speaking ahead of the game, Vazquez revealed that he has not heard from Mexico.

Tom Bogert reported Vazquez saying “I’ve heard absolutely nothing from them. My mind is on playing for the US and creating a relationship with the players around me and winning a position here.” This is good news for USMNT fans that are hoping Vazquez commits to representing them ahead of Mexico.
