According to ESPN senior NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the Golden State Warriors were “livid” over Draymond Green’s Game 3 suspension.

The Golden State Warriors will officially be shorthanded for Game 3 against the Sacramento Kings. That is because Draymond Green was officially suspended for one game due to stomping on Kings forward Damonta Sabonis’ chest, causing a sternum contusion. Well, the NBA said that his suspension was based on “Green’s history of unsportsmanlike acts.”

It’s no secret that the Warriors substantially better at home then they do on the road, but they will be without one of their starting forwards. Let’s just say that they aren’t exactly pleased with the NBA’s decision.

During an appearance on ESPN’s Get Up, senior NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski said that the Warriors were “in one word, livid” over Green’s suspension.

Wojnarowski also brought up the point in his comments that Green’s actions before he was ejected from the game “absolutely a part of this decision” to suspend him. Specifically, Green was shown arguing with fans and then taunting the crowd at Golden 1 Arena by pointing to his ear and telling them to get louder.

There was a debate throughout the league as to whether Green’s actions were suspension-worthy. Also discussed was Sabonis’ actions of grabbing Green’s ankle were intentional or a way to protect his face during the rush to the opposite side of the court. Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard thought that Sabonis should have been given a take foul and that Green didn’t mean to step on his chest. Klay Thompson, felt that Sabonis’ actions were “dirty,” but said that he didn’t feel Green’s actions were right.

Here is what Green had to say about the stomp immediately after Game 2:

"“My leg got grabbed. Second time in two nights. Referees just watch it. I gotta land my foot somewhere and I’m not the most flexible person so it’s not stretching that far… I can only step so far pulling my leg away,” said Green."

In the two games, Green has scored 12 points while shooting 4-for-11 from the field. Additionally, he recorded 16 assists, 13 rebounds, three steals and one block in 64 total minutes played.

The Warriors will look to cut their series deficit to 2-1 with a Game 3 win at Chase Center on Thursday night. However, they will have to do so without Green on the court.
