3 teams who should start recruiting Draymond Green when the Warriors lose
By Ian Levy
2. Sacramento Kings
I’m sorry but this scenario is objectively hilarious, considering the current animosity between Green and the Kings and their fans. He stomped on the chest of their starting center and then spent a good few minutes hollering at Kings fans and riling them up before he was eventually ejected and suspended.
But, imagine what a power move it would be for the Kings to start laying the seeds now if they keep moving toward a series win. Whispering in his ear while they line up for free throws: “Hey, Draymond, come play for a winner.”
From a strategic standpoint, Green would be an incredible fit. He could excel in many of the same spots as Sabonis as an offensive fulcrum around the elbows. He’d be a huge defensive upgrade to the frontcourt and split minutes between the 4 and backup 5, next to Keegan Murray or Harrison Barnes in smaller lineups.
The Kings probably won’t be able to offer the kind of max deal he’d like, but they can offer a meaningful role on a team that would have a very good chance of competing for a title with him in the fold. Also, he’d be just a short drive from wherever he lives now in the Bay Area. It’s perhaps the unlikeliest outcome but it still makes a lot of sense on paper.
