MLB rumors Ian Happ Logan Webb Twins, Marlins, Pablo Lopez

Pablo Lopez and the Twins agreed to a four-year, $73.5 million extension

The deal made sense for numerous reasons. The Twins acquired Lopez from the Marlins in the offseason, sending Luis Arraez to Miami. The move was a gamble by the Twins — Arraez is one of the best hitters in baseball — but the deal was made because of their belief in Lopez, who they believed could be a frontline starting pitcher.

So far, Lopez looks the part in Minnesota. In four starts, he’s posted a 1.73 ERA and recorded 33 strikeouts in 26 innings. Here’s a full breakdown of his contract, per sources:

  • Signing bonus: $1 million
  • 2024: $8 million
  • 2025: $21.5 million
  • 2026: $21.5 million
  • 2027: $21.5 million
