The Cardinals could promote Matthew Liberatore

Matthew Liberatore has surprisingly not made his St. Louis debut this season. After spending lots of time between Memphis and St. Louis last season, the Cardinals have kept Liberatore in Memphis to get some starts and innings under his belt.

In four games for the Memphis Redbirds, Liberatore has a 3-0 record with 22.2 innings pitched and a 2.38 ERA. He’s thrown 30 strikeouts in that time.

The Cardinals will likely see how Adam Wainwright’s return to St. Louis goes before bringing up Libertore. They want the young lefty to continue to develop and get right, as he is expected to be a big part of the rotation soon.
