MLB Rumors: Cristian Pache thriving with Phillies, not Braves

Cristian Pache is thriving now that he’s back in the NL East, and some of the pressure is off.

Pache is a former top prospect of the Atlanta Braves, but failed to make much of an impact in the ATL. He was traded to the Oakland Athletics as part of the deal which brought Matt Olson to the Braves as a Freddie Freeman replacement.

Unfortunately, despite ample opportunity, Pache struggled with the Athletics. He still had the top prospect tag associated with his name, and it showed. Pache played a solid outfield, but couldn’t get much of anything going at the plate. Once he was DFA’d by the A’s, Pache found a new home in Philadelphia via trade.

So for with the Phillies, Pache has thrived in a new environment. He receives playing time, and knows where he stands. Pache is slashing .348/.348/.565/.983 with a 147 OPS+ so far with the Phillies, and could play a very important role in the NL East race as Bryce Harper recovers from injury.

The Phils outfield is thin for now, and Pache is holding down the fort when the team needs him most.
