Teams that should stop Will Levis slide: New Orleans Saints

Levis would not be an immediate starter with the New Orleans Saints, but as we’ve detailed, his tumble down the draft board indicates few NFL teams, if any, see him stepping into a day-one starting role anyway. New Orleans signed Derek Carr this offseason, ending the painful Jameis Winston-Taysom Hill-Andy Dalton experiment they’ve trotted out the last few seasons.

Carr is their guy, but for how long? The Saints admitted on Thursday night they looked at quarterback at pick No. 29 before taking defensive tackle Bryan Bresee. You have to think, about 10 picks later, they’d consider it even more.

Ultimately, New Orleans ranks lower here because the path to starting in NOLA might be a bit longer, plus they’re probably the floor on where he’ll go. The Buccaneers are a for-sure worst-case scenario in round three, but long before their 50th pick, the Saints are on the clock at 40.
