NFL Draft 2023: 5 best picks of the first round
By John Buhler
Jalen Carter goes to the perfect spot for him with the Philadelphia Eagles at No. 9
As much as I love the Bijan Robinson pick to my Atlanta Falcons, I am so happy my Dawg Jalen Carter is going to the Philadelphia Eagles. He gets to play for the defending NFC Champions and in the same front-seven as Fletcher Cox, as well as three of his former Georgia teammates in defensive tackle Jordan Davis, linebacker Nakobe Dean and fellow draft classmate Nolan Smith.
Philadelphia was going to take him if he fell to No. 10. It may have broken that way, but the Eagles traded up one spot in a deal with the Chicago Bears to make him their guy at No. 9. Although the Birds may have lost both of their star coordinators to other teams this offseason, the culture Nick Sirianni is building is simply undeniable. Howie Roseman continues to run laps around everyone.
If you are looking for a team who is going to dominate the NFC going forward, this is it. I would be absolutely shocked if the Eagles do not win a Super Bowl during the life of Carter’s rookie deal out of Georgia. It sucks that he is not playing four miles away from me in The Benz, but can’t you just be happy for the guy? All the crap he went through over the last few months. It’s over and he won!
Roseman has one draft strategy going forward: To channel his inner Coastal need for more Dawgs.
