Christian Vazquez is struggling to find consistency with the Twins

During the offseason, Vazquez signed with the Twins to a three-year deal worth $30 million.

He’s played in 18 games and knocked 16 hits, including three doubles and four runs batted in. He’s slashed .281/.369/.333 with an OPS of .703. Vazquez is top on the Twins’ catching depth chart above Ryan Jeffers. This is a new role for Vazquez, as he’s mainly worked as a backup or in a platoon situation, such as with Martin Maldonado with the Astros.

The Twins are 16-11 and in first place, with a 2.5-game lead over the Guardians. This is April, so as Vazquez gets accustomed to his new team and the pitchers he’s working with, watch for him to improve at the plate and be the bat they hope he becomes.

Meanwhile, he has a fun job in catching a rotation that includes Pablo Lopez, Sonny Gray, Joe Ryan, Tyler Mahle, and Kenta Maeda. Vazquez should find his place with the Twins very soon.
