Round 4, Pick 132 — Wisconsin OLB Nick Herbig

The Steelers had three big needs in the draft: Offensive tackle? Check. Cornerback? Check. Outside linebacker? It took longer than the other two but the fourth round finally brought a check on that one.

Pittsburgh drafting Nick Herbig meant Porter Jr. wasn’t the only selection that kept it in the family. Herbig is the brother of Steelers offensive lineman Nate Herbig. He’s also a teammate of second-round pick Keeanu Benton.

Considering Daniel Jeremiah had Herbig ranked 75th on his Big Board, this was a value pick in the fourth as the Steelers look to take advantage of his explosiveness and motor. The biggest issue for the linebacker is size, though he’s apparently up to 240 after playing at 227.

In his final year with the Badgers, Herbig had 11 sacks with 15.5 tackles for loss, leading the Big Ten in both measures.
