51. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 2. player. QB. Georgia Bulldogs. Stetson Bennett IV

Stetson Bennett IV’s Georgia connections make him an ideal fit for the L.A. Rams

I touched on this a bit yesterday, but Stetson Bennett IV could not have possibly gone to a better place for him professionally than the Los Angeles Rams. Bennett will get to back up former Georgia star Matthew Stafford while he learns the ropes of Sean McVay’s offense. With so many people in the Rams’ building with Georgia ties, he has a great chance of sticking around in the NFL.

The draft comp I had for Bennett coming out was a more athletic version of Baker Mayfield. No, Bennett was never going No. 1 overall to any team like the hapless Cleveland Browns back in 2018, but somebody was going to look past all the B.S. out there about him and realize one very important thing: The dude can ball, bruh! I am ashamed for not seeing this as Bennett’s best fit…

While I thought teams like the Baltimore Ravens, the Kansas City Chiefs and even the Tennessee Titans would have been great landing spots for him, you cannot top Bennett going back to L.A. and getting to work with McVay. In a way, Bennett’s arrival just might reinvigorate McVay to keep on coaching before deciding to do analyst work. Stafford isn’t getting any younger, so who’s got next?

Don’t be shocked if Bennett wins the Rams a game or two in a big spot over the next few seasons.
