1. Vaughn Grissom won’t be on the Braves roster by June 1

Some Braves fans won’t like to hear this given the outcry when Vaughn Grissom was optioned to Triple-A after lighting it up in spring training, but there’s an extremely good chance that the shortstop is going to be back in Gwinnett before the end of May.

Grissom has continued what he showed after being called into action amid second base injuries for Atlanta a year ago and what he put on display in the spring since being called up after the injury to Orlando Arcia.

In 17 games this season, Grissom has slashed a solid .276/.323/.293. While he hasn’t hit for much power — no home runs and just one double — he’s been getting on base consistently and has scored four runs in 60 plate appearances, which is solid enough. The opportunities have been more plentiful than that, though.

Having said that, there’s a good chance that Arcia will be back with the club in the next couple of weeks or so as he’s beginning to rehab from the microfracture in his wrist that he suffered on a nasty hit-by-pitch.

Given that Arcia was also mashing prior to the injury and coupling that with Grissom still having some shortcomings defensively at shortstop, it seems like the writing could be on the wall for the latter whenever Arcia is ready to come back.
