3 free agency landing spots that might actually work for Dillon Brooks

2. Miami Heat
The Miami Heat are famous for their culture and Brooks would certainly fit with his defense, intensity and aggressiveness (although maybe they can help him let his game do a bit more of the talking). The Heat aren’t done with their postseason run yet but their roster will have some holes next season with Udonis Haslem retiring and Gabe Vincent, Max Strus, Kevin Love and Cody Zeller all on expiring contracts.
Brooks duplicates a fair bit of what the Heat already have in Caleb Martin but you can never have too many strong wing defenders and if the Heat can get him to buy into sharing the ball and really operating in concert with Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler instead of trying to fill an imaginary void with own shot-creation, he could be useful on offense.
The question for the Heat will be how much it costs to acquire Brooks. Victor Oladipo is likely going to pick up his $9 million player option, they still have Duncan Robinson’s awful contract on the books and they may like to re-sign Strus and Vincent. They don’t need Brooks badly enough to throw a big deal at him, but they could be interested if the price comes way down.
