Sell: New York Yankees in last place in American League East

When the New York Yankees re-signed Aaron Judge, and went out and signed star left-hander Carlos Rodon, they instantly became favorites to win the World Series.

Alas, 32 games into the regular season, they are 17-15 and 8.5 games back of the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East. And I’m not pressing the panic button.

On May 4, Judge, Rodon and Giancarlo Stanton are all on the Injured List. Josh Donaldson, Luis Severino, Frankie Montas, as well as Tommy Kahn, Scott Effross, Lou Trivino and Jonathan Loaisaga have all missed time with injuries. They’ve been battered by injuries, more than most teams, and have managed to tread water.

There’s a reason why Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said: “Don’t count us out. Don’t give up on us. This is a championship-caliber operation.”

I’m not giving up on them, and neither should you.
