Formula One is back in Miami for the second time ever. Here’s what the starting grid will look like for Sunday’s Grand Prix.

Formula One is back in Miami for the second time, which means it’s only the second weekend ever that teams and drivers are seeing the physical track and all its quirks. It has also been resurfaced since its 2022 debut and parts of it are a bit wider and different than its debut.

Yes, drivers have had plenty of time in simulators and have a year under the belt on this track, but it pales in comparison to the well-known tracks like Monza, Monaco, Silverstone and Spa which have all been raced at over 50 times.

Anything can happen during any Formula One race. That is even more true on a newer street track like the one outside of Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.

  6. George Russell
  7. Charles Leclerc

  9. Max Verstappen
  10. Valterri Bottas
  11. Alex Albon

  17. Yuki Tsunoda
  18. Lance Stroll
  19. Oscar Piastri
  20. Logan Sargeant

The big story in Q1 was both McLarens missing out on the cut line. Lance Stroll missing in the Aston Martin also showed that this unfamiliar track has the possibility of being unforgiving to even the quickest of cars all weekend.

Logan Sargeant will start last on the grid in his hometown race.

Q2 saw Lewis Hamilton, who came in with the fourth-most points in the drivers standings, go out in the second stage of qualifying.

And Q3 was the most chaotic of all. With times wiped out, Max Verstappen yet to log a time, Charles Leclerc spun out into the wall and had the race red-flagged with 01:36 remaining. The times as they were at that point went final.

Winners of qualifying:

  • Sergio Perez gets to be the leading Red Bull
  • Kevin Magnussen in P4 is huge for Haas

Losers of qualifying:

  • Logan Sargeant will start last in his hometown race
  • McLaren missed on the first qualifying stage for both cars
  • Lewis Hamilton fell all the way to 13th
  • Max Verstappen did not get a lap time in for Q3
  • Charles Leclerc was on a fast lap when he lost control and ended qualifying
