NBA Mock Draft: Who each lottery team should take with the No. 2 pick
By Ian Levy
The Wizards are reportedly planning on re-signing Kristaps Porzingis and Kyle Kuzma, and locked into Bradley Beal for the rest of eternity. What they need, more than anything, is a dynamic creator who can score, facilitate and bring the swagger to hold this roster for supporting pieces together.
The Wizards have missed out on greater talents the past few years, working fit far too heavily into their draft calculations on picks like Johnny Davis, Corey Kispert and Deni Avdija. With Henderson, they arguably get the best player available and the best fit.
Henderson takes over as the starting point guard next season, making things easier for Beal, Kuzma and Porzingis with his speed in transition and self-creation ability in the halfcourt. Their offensive abilities, in turn, scaffold things for Henderson, making sure he doesn’t have to shoulder the load entirely on his own. And maybe, just maybe, the Wizards finally have the star to carry them into the next era.
