The NFL is playing a Black Friday game for the first time in 2023. Which two teams will be playing in the contest on Amazon Prime?

The NFL has been slowly trying to expand its reach in terms of the calendar, adding a Christmas triple header last season to try and conquer that holiday in addition to its annual Thanksgiving domination. One area that hasn’t been tapped yet by the league is Black Friday, a day where most Americans are off work and spend the day either with family or doing holiday shopping.

With Amazon Prime now serving as a broadcast partner for the league, it made sense for them to add a game on the most popular shopping day of the year to cross-promote some of their holiday deals during the broadcast. The NFL officially announced the first-ever Black Friday game and it is a doozy.

Who Is Playing In The NFL’s Black Friday Game?

Amazon is headed to the Big Apple for Black Friday as the New York Jets will play host to the Miami Dolphins in a critical AFC East matchup. The game will kick off at 3:00 p.m. ET in order to avoid broadcasting regulations that forbid the NFL from airing a game on Friday night or Saturdays prior to the traditional end of the college football season.

This is a big win for Amazon to get the Jets, who are one of the league’s best attractions this season with Aaron Rodgers under center, for one of their tentpole games of the season. The fact that the opposition is the Dolphins, one of New York’s most hated rivals and a playoff contender themselves, only adds to the intrigue for the game.

The rest of the NFL Schedule, including the full Thursday Night Football schedule, will be released by the league at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11.
