Cardinals Rumors: Who’s really to blame for Willson Contreras drama?

Willson Contreras is no Yadier Molina behind the plate. Yet, Molina is a Cardinals legend and a potential future Hall of Famer. Did St. Louis really expect Contreras — a player who has struggled defensively behind the plate previously — to suddenly come in and rectify all of his issues? That’s not how this works.

Redbird Rants’ Josh Jacobs noted this in a recent article:

"“The entire baseball industry knew about the question marks surrounding Contreras’ ability to call games for years now, so for the Cardinals to already be upset with how things are going behind the plate is shocking on many levels. Did they really now think this would be an issue for them? Did they really think Contreras would come in and even come close to what Yadier Molina provided for them in such a short amount of time?”"

After winning a series against Contreras former team, the Chicago Cubs, things are pointing in the right direction for St. Louis. They ought to build off this and realize they have a decent chance to make up some ground. The NL Central is in a tailspin at the moment, with pretty much every team in some sort of crisis aversion.
