Steelers schedule 2023: Game-by-game predictions, Weeks 3-8

8:20 PM ET. NBC. Sept. 24 (SNF). Week 3. 28. 21. 55. 13

Two straight primetime games for Pittsburgh, but also their first road matchup of the year as they head to Vegas in Week 3 for Sunday Night Football.

Even still months away from the 2023 season, I’ve already made it clear that I’m not high on the Raiders given the state of the defensive roster, the track record of Josh McDaniels as a head coach, and the limited ceiling of Jimmy Garoppolo when Kyle Shanahan isn’t coaching him. On a short-ish week, I think the Steelers offense might not be clicking full force, but they’ll get the win nonetheless.

55. Oct. 1. 10. TBD. 9. Week 4. TBD. 28

Despite this game being in Houston, you have to feel bad for C.J. Stroud. Though the Texans have some talent on the O-line, they aren’t prepared to match up with T.J. Watt, Alex Highsmith, Cam Heyward and this Pittsburgh front seven. Kenny Pickett will have a big game, as will Najee Harris against this weak Houston front, but it’ll be the Steelers defense that really guides the way to a dominant Week 4 win.

TBD. Oct. 8. 20. 55. 26. 26. Week 5. TBD

I’m quite bullish on Lamar Jackson now that he’s locked up in Baltimore, especially with the improved weapons the Ravens have put around him and with Todd Monken calling the offense. This will be the first time we see the Steelers defense show some cracks as the secondary isn’t deep enough to handle what the Ravens can throw at them. Pittsburgh will have some offensive success against a sneakily mediocre Baltimore D, but just not enough.

55. Oct. 22. Week 7. TBD. 24. TBD. 14. 51

Though the final score for this game isn’t overly impressive coming out of the Steelers Week 6 bye, it should be a dominant effort for Pittsburgh where they just bleed out the clock to come away comfortably with a win. The Rams should have an improved offense when healthy, but it’s not nearly deep enough to provide a scare. As for the LA defense, they don’t stand a chance with the way that roster looks right now.

55. Week 8. 20. TBD. 17. TBD. 52. Oct. 29

Traveling back home after the trip to Los Angeles, I think we see some shortcomings from the Steelers in this game. The way Pittsburgh is constructed, I don’t see many ways in which they are going to get blown out. But I’m bullish on Trevor Lawrence in the second season under Doug Pederson with the Jags and I think he pulls out a clutch win late to hand the black and gold a loss.
