Steelers game-by-game, record predictions for 2023 season
Steelers final record prediction for the 2023 season
Going through the Steelers 2023 schedule, they have a real opportunity before them to build early momentum against the easier part of their season. Things undeniably get extremely tough down the stretch, but they have the opportunity to really build on the roster improvements made in the offseason and hit their stride.
Kenny Pickett is going to take a big step forward, not only because he has more experience, more weapons, and a better rapport with his pass-catchers, but because he’ll simply have more time to process and work with the stout improvements made in the trenches. That should also help Najee Harris be a more effective player as both a runner and pass-catcher out of the backfield.
On top of that, Pittsburgh’s defense, at least from where I’m sitting, could be better. The additions of Cole Holcomb and Elandon Roberts aren’t necessarily sexy, but they could be improvements to the inside linebacker group from years past. Meanwhile, the additions of Joey Porter Jr., Patrick Peterson, Keanu Neal, and Damontae Kazee all improve and deepen the secondary.
All told, this team is just better top-to-bottom from where they were a year ago and the results should bare that out. Even with a tough finishing stretch, the Steelers have the roster to still contend with that and be a playoff team. And if that is true, they could be getting better throughout the season and be in form to be a real threat in the postseason too.
